In some regimens the backbone is incorporated in a single tablet regimen (STR). The commonly used NRTI backbones available in separate tablet(s) are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tenofovir (TFV)-based: Truvada\u00ae(TDF+FTC); Descovy\u00ae(TAF+FTC); Viread\u00ae(TDF)+Epivir\u00ae(3TC)<\/li>\n<li>Abacavir (ABC)-based: Kivexa\u00ae(ABC+3TC); Ziagen\u00ae(ABC)+ Epivir\u00ae(3TC)<\/li>\n<li>Zidovudine (ZDV)-based: Combivir\u00ae(ZDV+3TC); Retrovir\u00ae(ZDV)+Epivir\u00ae(3TC)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NNRTI \u2013 One of the ARV classes forming \"third compound\" used in combination with NRTI backbone medicines. The commonly used NNRTI are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Efavirenz (EFV) \u2013 Stocrin\u00ae<\/li>\n<li>Rilpivirine (RPV) \u2013 Edurant\u00ae<\/li>\n<li>Nevirapine (NVP) \u2013 Viramune\u00ae<\/li>\n<li>Doravirine (DOR) \u2013 incorporated in STR Delstrigo\u00ae(TDF+3TC+DOR)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class='col-md-3'>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/pic-arv02.jpg\">\n<\/div>\n<p>PI \u2013 Another ARV class forming the \"third compound\" used in combination with NRTI backbone medicines. PIs are commonly used together with a pharmacological enhancer or booster, which is either ritonavir (RTV) or cobicistat (COBI). In other words, PI could be a double medicine. The commonly used PIs are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Darunavir (DRV) \u2013 Prezista\u00ae(DRV); Prezista\u00ae(DRV)+Norvir\u00ae(RTV); Prezcobix\u00ae(DRV+COBI); Symtuza\u00ae(TAF+FTC+DRV+COBI)\n    <\/li>\n<li>Atazanavir (ATV) \u2013 Reyataz\u00ae(ATV); Reyataz\u00ae(ATV)+Norvir\u00ae(RTV)<\/li>\n<li>Lopinavir (LPV) \u2013 Kaletra\u00ae(LPV+RTV)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>INSTI \u2013 Another ARV class forming the \"third compound\" used in combination with NRTI backbone medicines. INSTI may be used together with a pharmacological enhancer or booster cobicistat (COBI). In other words, INSTI can be a double medicine. The commonly used INSTI are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Raltegravir (RAL) \u2013 Isentress\u00ae<\/li>\n<li>Dolutegravir (DTG) \u2013 Tivicay\u00ae<\/li>\n<li>Elvitegravir (EVG) \u2013 incorporated in STR Stribild\u00ae or Genvoya\u00ae<\/li>\n<li>Bictegravir (BIC) \u2013 incorporated in STR Biktarvy\u00ae<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>EI \u2013 Less commonly used medicine the use of which often reserved for situation when the standard regimens cannot be prescribed for various reasons like drug resistance<\/p>\n<h3>Single Tablet Regimen (STR)<\/h3>\n<p>Single tablet regimens (STR)\u3000are becoming commonly used for HIV treatment. Common ones are giddiness, sleep disturbances, \"strange\" dreams. May need to monitor lipid and liver functions.
